This article will show you the nine best front kitchen travel trailers. These RVs have their kitchens in the front right next to their living areas. And the kitchens are typically larger than those in other types of RVs.
So if you are thinking of renting or purchasing an RV with a large kitchen for easy food preparation, they are the type of RV you should get.
All the front kitchen travel trailers I have put on the list below are well-rated by users and critics. With this in mind, here are the top 6 practical front kitchen travel trailers.
Top Front Kitchen Travel Trailers
1. Forest River Flagstaff Micro Lite Travel Trailer 25FKS
The Forest River Flagstaff Micro Lite Travel Trailer is, in my opinion, the best front kitchen travel trailer currently available. I came to this conclusion because of four key reasons.
First, it has a very spacious kitchen for a travel trailer. Most travel trailers do not have a spacious kitchen. So, this one has a spacious kitchen, which makes it better than most travel trailers out there.
Second, it is available in many versions. Most travel trailers only have seven or fewer floor plan options. In contrast, this one has seventeen floor plan options. What this means is that there are abundant options for you to consider.
It is doubtful that one of these camper’s many floor plan options will impress you. The best Forest River Flagstaff Micro Lite front kitchen model is the 25FKS model. I say this because its kitchen is the best planned.
Third, it is a lightweight travel trailer. As mentioned above, this travel trailer is available in seventeen versions. None of the seventeen versions weighs more than 5,500 pounds.
In contrast, most travel trailers weigh between 8,000 and 12,000 pounds. So, if you want a lightweight front kitchen travel trailer, you should strongly consider this Forest River camper.
Lastly, it is a feature-rich travel trailer. Most lightweight travel trailers do not have many features. In contrast, this one has many features and amenities.
Its features and amenities include a rear camera, a sizeable refrigerator, multiple hardwood cabinets, strong fiberglass walls, a durable aluminum frame, an intense air conditioner, and a beautiful digital awning for outdoor leisure.
2. Forest River Flagstaff Super Lite Travel Trailer 26FKBS
This is the second Forest River brand travel trailer on this list. I called the first one the best front kitchen travel trailer. Like its cousin (the number 1 front kitchen travel trailer), this trailer is also a fantastic front kitchen camper.
It has many of the same features as the Flagstaff Micro Lite, but is also considerably different. The overall design is the main difference between it and the Flagstaff Micro Lite.
There are sixteen floor plan options available for this trailer. However, only the 26VFKS and the 26FKWS models have front kitchens. The best of the two is the former.
This travel trailer is generally spacious. It has a spacious living area and a spacious kitchen.
This camper has all the standard features and many additional features, so I included it in this list.
Its features include a kitchen, a sink, countertops, a refrigerator, an air conditioner, a bike rack (optional), a living area, sleeping areas, a full bathroom, a smoke detector, vaulted ceilings, drawers with metal guides, and safety features.
3. Keystone RV Hideout Travel Trailer 24FKS
Keystone RV has been making excellent-quality RVs for a very long time. This travel trailer, available in 34 different floor plan versions, is their best RV to date!
The 34FKDS is the best practical front kitchen Keystone RV Hideout model. Other front kitchen models of this trailer include the Hideout 24FKS and the Hideout 24FKSWE models.
The thing that stands out the most about the Keystone RV Hideout Travel Trailer is its classic design. This trailer has a classic exterior and a classic interior. So if you are a sucker for classic RVs, you should strongly consider it.
Another thing that stands out about this RV is that it is relatively safe compared to most RVs. This is because it has many safety features, including a smoke detector, a fire extinguisher, a cooking gas detector, and safety chains.
The fact that it is feature-rich also stands out. Its many features include a refrigerator, a microwave, surround speakers, and a 30,000 BTU furnace.
This trailer also comes with an electric front landing gear and an electric awning.
In brief, this is a front kitchen travel trailer that has everything.
4. Dutchmen RV Kodiak Ultimate 2921FKDS
This Dutchmen front kitchen travel trailer is a fantastic 3-person, sleek, and comfortable trailer.
If you decide to buy or rent this trailer, you can stay warm in the evening in front of its powerful furnace and sleep in its unique king-size bed.
You can also freshen up in a walk-through bathroom in the morning before making a full breakfast in the spacious front kitchen. Or while your partner makes your breakfast in the kitchen.
Speaking of breakfast, after you have prepared it or your partner has designed it, you can take it in a booth dinette with your partner or while lounging in a super comfortable theater seat.
You will have plenty of space to store your belongings, utensils, and everything else before you leave because it has multiple storage areas. You will also have plenty of space to store your dry goods, thanks to well-positioned pantry shelves.
If your food items need cold storage, you can store them in this camper’s massive ten cubic-foot refrigerator.
One of the most unique things about this Dutchmen RV Kodiak Ultimate model is its touchscreen operating system. The system allows you to monitor and control most features using the RV’s control tablet.
It also allows you to control the RV using its complementary smartphone app. In other words, I am trying to say that you can handle most of this camper’s features while relaxing outside under its awning or sleeping in its king-size bed.
All Dutchmen RV Kodiak Ultimate models, including this model, have aluminum frames, insulated sidewalls, heated floors, and a fireplace. They are campers you can use to travel in any season.
5. BASECAMP 16
While the BASECAMP 16 travel trailer is not ideal for families (it only sleeps two), it is perfect for those who want to travel solo or with a partner.
This is because it is extremely tough and lightweight (weighs just 2,585 pounds) and, therefore, perfect for going everywhere motorable. It is also important because it has all the essential features, including a front kitchen for comfort while on the road.
So, get this camper if you want to visit that destination you have always dreamt of visiting, whether off-road, off-grid, or somewhere frequented by other campers and travelers. The second best thing about this camper is its front kitchen.
The kitchen is practical and has a two-burner cooktop for preparing hot meals, a refrigerator for preserving food, and storage areas for utensils and dry goods. If you are wondering what the best thing about this camper is, wonder no more. It is its design. The design is very sleek and modern.
The frame of the BASECAMP 16 is made of a rugged aluminum alloy. Its axle is well-positioned and supported by a brilliant suspension system. All these things, plus the trailer’s big wheels, make it perfect for off-road/ off-grid adventures.
BASECAMP’s front kitchen travel trailer features two seats/ benches in the living area. These can be converted into a single spacious bed, 76 inches by 76 inches, or two smaller bunk-size beds.
One of the things I like most about this travel trailer is its two showers. It comes with an indoor wet bath and an outdoor shower. So, depending on where you are and how hot it is, you can shower outdoors if you get this camper. You can also use the outdoor shower to wash your bike or bicycle.
I also appreciate that this camper features two doors, making it airy and spacious enough for two people to live in, despite its compact size. Its pop-up charging station is also worth a mention.
In a nutshell, the BASECAMP 16 is a brilliant, lightweight front kitchen travel trailer.
6. Coachmen Freedom Express Ultra-Lite 259FKDS
Earlier in this article, I said the Forest River Flagstaff Micro Lite Travel Trailer is the best front kitchen travel trailer, and I explained why.
While this has not changed, I would buy the Coachmen Freedom Express Ultra-Lite 259FKDS model to buy a front kitchen travel trailer. This is because I love everything about it.
The camper is made by Coachmen RV, a company dedicated to enriching your life. The company has been making superior-value recreational vehicles since time immemorial, and this front kitchen travel trailer is an excellent example of the good work it has been doing.
The camper is lightweight. This makes it easy to tow and to park. It also reduces how much it affects gas mileage.
I love that this camper features two slide-outs that you can deploy to make it spacious, so you can relax or sleep in it without feeling claustrophobic.
I also love that it has a front kitchen with a quality 3-burner cooktop, an oven, a refrigerator, a microwave, and pantry shelves.
There are also several cabinets for storing dishware and cookware. After preparing a meal in this kitchen, you can sit in its dinette or theater seats.
If you want to prepare meals outside, you can do so with this travel trailer. This is because it has an outdoor kitchen with everything you need to prepare meals conveniently in nature.
I love that this RV has its tanks stored underneath its floor to increase its center of gravity and make it easier to tow.
In addition to all the things above that I love about this travel trailer, I adore its many quality features, including its residential-style flooring, its big-screen LED TV, its big refrigerator, its pass-through storage, its king-size bed, its power awning, its back ladder, its powerful AC, its indoor shower, and its outdoor shower.
I am sure you now understand why I said it’s the front kitchen travel trailer I would buy.
What to Look for When Choosing a Front Kitchen Travel Trailer?
Size and Layout
The size of the front kitchen travel trailer is pivotal. You must ensure the layout comfortably accommodates a kitchen, living area, bedroom, and bathroom.
Consider trailers with open floor plans for a spacious feel. For example, the Jayco Jay Flight model offers a roomy kitchen at the front with ample counter space.
Kitchen Amenities
Look for trailers with well-equipped kitchens. Consider ones with a good-sized refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, and adequate storage space for groceries and utensils. The Forest River Flagstaff Micro Lite has a fully equipped kitchen with these features.
Storage Space
Adequate storage in a travel trailer is crucial. Look for models with cabinets and drawers in the kitchen area and storage space under the furniture in the living area.
Bedroom Placement and Comfort
As the kitchen is at the front, ensure that the sleeping area is well-separated and comfortable. Some trailers, such as Keystone Cougar, offer slide-out options for the bedroom to maximize space.
Bathroom Facilities
Ensure the trailer includes a bathroom with amenities like a toilet, sink, and shower. Some models, like the Grand Design Reflection, even have an ensuite bathroom.
Build Quality
A good travel trailer should have solid build quality. Look for models with reinforced construction, high-quality materials, and a reputation for durability.
Weight and Towing Capacity
It’s essential to consider the trailer’s weight and your vehicle’s towing capacity. The trailer should be light enough for your vehicle to pull but sturdy enough to withstand travel conditions.
Price
The cost of the trailer is a crucial factor. Find a model that fits your budget without compromising the necessary features and quality.
Summary
Front kitchen travel trailers offer a range of benefits for road trippers who want the comforts of home while on the move. One of the most notable advantages of these trailers is the spacious kitchen area.
This design provides ample countertop space, making it ideal for those who enjoy cooking during their travels. Including a large panoramic window not only allows a generous amount of natural light into the space and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
These trailers also feature a separate living area and a rear bedroom layout, adding comfort and convenience. However, the heavy front end may slightly affect towing stability, which should be considered.
For this reason, some models may require more significant and powerful towing vehicles. Despite this, front kitchen travel trailers remain popular due to their homey features and practical layout.
They provide an exceptional on-the-road living experience, especially for those who love to cook and desire a separate living and sleeping area. Comfort, convenience, and functionality make them an excellent choice for long-term travel.
