Even though Montana is the eighth least populous state in the US, it is the fourth largest and can thus boast one of the most diverse landscapes in the US. Particularly notable are the Rocky Mountains in the state’s west – if you’ve been looking for arguably the most beautiful mountains in the US, you may be able to find them in Montana.

Where To Rent An RV In Montana?

Even though Montana is the 4th largest state in the US, it doesn’t have as many RV rental locations as you would expect. Not only that, but most rental locations in the state are situated in and around the cities of Helena, Bozeman, and Billings. There are a couple of rental locations to the northeast of the state, but those are set quite far apart.

Things aren’t too good with popular online peer-to-peer rental platforms either – RVshare, for example, had only a couple dozen RV listings in Montana as of early November 2019. Outdoorsy was a little better with its over a hundred RV listings.

In short, plan your route through large cities – you have the best chances to find the right RV there.

RV Campgrounds & National Parks In Montana

A major center of agriculture, Montana is filled with expansive farmlands and forest areas. You may see most of the state’s natural wealth by staying at one of these RV campgrounds & parks:

  • Mountain Meadow RV Park and Cabins.
  • 7th Ranch RV Park.
  • Yellowstone’s Edge RV Park.
  • Outback Montana RV Park & Campground.
  • Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins.
  • Jim & Mary’s RV Park.
  • San-Suz-Ed RV Park and Bed & Breakfast.
  • Southside RV Park.
  • Bearmouth Chalet and RV Park.
  • Columbia Falls RV Park and Cabins.

As for national parks, do make an effort to visit Glacier National Park with its numerous lakes and over 1,000 plant species, as well as Yellowstone National Park with its famous Old Faithful geyser.

Popular Tourist Attractions In Montana

Glacier National Park houses the Going to the Sun Road. This 50-mile road is one of the most difficult roads to snowplow through in entire North America. Featuring tight and narrow hairpin turns, Going to the Sun Road promises an exciting and even a little scary experience.

Events In Montana

One of the more interesting events in Montana is the Wild West Winterfest featuring old western food cooking demonstrations, horse sales, hockey tournaments, dog key pulling contents, and much more.

Another notable event is the Montana Folk Festival, one of the main festivals in Montana. Among other things, this festival incorporates traditional music along with the culture and cuisine of the American West.
