Gidget Retro Teardrop

Gidget Teardrop
  • Summary
  • Prices start at around $20,000

This is a very good option for a slide out trailer. It is very unique. It has a special patented slide out which will make the cramped trailer double in size on the inside. Plus, it only takes a few seconds and one step to double the size. A team in Australia wanted to make the most creative and best teardrop camper in the world and wanted features that no one else had. They wanted their camper to be a high-end teardrop camper that people would expect from larger caravan campers. This is their final result.

The Gidget Retro Teardrop Camper is weighted low to the ground. This is done on purpose to provide stability and to make it easier to tow. It is very aerodynamic which makes it easier to haul and doesn’t cause it to drag. This also means that it does not make the vehicle use more gasoline. The body of the camper is about the same size as a normal standard car. When looking at the camper you are able to see down both sides in your mirrors without needing anything extra.

The camper is a great item to have for extended trips. Plus, it has a power board with 110 Watts of solar power. It has a battery and inverter that are charged daily by these solar panels or a plug if one is available near you. This camper has a large water tank as well as a waste tank. This is going to come in handy for longer trips.

The kitchen is not going to cause hassle because it has everything needed for a person to cook. It has a pantry, utility drawers’ fridge, double burner stove, storage, shelving, glass lid sink, and pressurized water. Not to mention there is a rotating entertainment console as well.

This camper can fit a queen size bed and it can convert into a lounge when not in use. The camper has under the floor storage for more space to put your things. A portable table could be used as well as portable chairs. .

Alto R 1713

Alto R 1713
  • Summary
  • Prices start at around $28,000

This camper is a modern take on the traditional teardrop camper. It is an alternative to large clunky decked out campers. Plus, it has a very modern design. The Alto Camper is a great option that has many modern conveniences to ensure that you are having a relaxing time camping.

This camper is made with an aerodynamic shape that makes it easier to tow and access them. The Alto R is going to have modern designs such as a retractable roof that is electric that will make it seem roomier and more open compared to a normal teardrop trailer.

The CEO of the company stated that they wanted to make a light and small aerodynamic trailer that is still comfortable and has an accommodating interior height. This is how we came up with the idea of a retractable electric roof.

The camper itself weights just over 1600 pounds. This model can easily sleep three people. The retractable roof allows for a great lighting option and provides a total interior height of just under 7 feet.

This model Alto R is going to have two sleeping areas, smart kitchen, fridge, gas stove, sink, toilet, extendable dining area. This model does not have as much storage space as the model below but it has enough.

This model is going to sleep three people comfortably. It is a good starter camper for smaller families that want an affordable yet comfortable option for camping.

This version of the Alto is a bigger and better version. It has about the same features but there is a little more space with this model. It weighs just over 1700 pounds which is about a hundred pounds more than the one above and it features quite a bit more storage space.

The trailers themselves are about the same with a height of 6.8 feet. It also has two sleeping areas and an extendable dining area. This area in the larger model can be used when the bedding is still set up whereas the smaller model, the bedding needs to be put away. This model also features an interior shower curtain.

Beauer 3x

Beauer 3x
  • Summary
  • Prices start at around $33,000

This company designed this trailer to allow you to have more outdoor space for living without having a huge problem towing a bulky large trailer. This trailer features a design that will allow you to have up to three times more space than their traditional teardrop model. This may look like a tin can out in the woods but it does have a lot of space to accommodate a family.

When the trailer is compacted and being towed it looks like any ordinary teardrop trailer. The compact version measures in at 8.5 feet x 6 feet x 8.5 feet.  This does not include the hitch. The design is to make sure that the body is about the width of the vehicle towing it to ensure that it is a smooth ride for everyone.

This model is not going to be able to be hauled by a small vehicle because it weighs in just over 2200 pounds. This is because of the telescopic designs that are going to allow for more space. The slideouts are electronic and can be done with the push of a button. This makes the interior floor space go from a small 43 square feet to a whopping 129 square feet. Plus, it is quick and only takes about twenty seconds.

When expanded there is a bedroom, kitchen, dining area, and a bathroom. Keep in mind that when it is taken down it is very compact. So, you should bring your own furniture to furnish it when it is expanded. However, if you are fond of the folding furniture then you may not have to bring much. Folding beds, folding couches, and other items can be placed inside when it is compacted.

This teardrop slide-out camper has a kitchen located in the center with a bedroom that accommodates two people, a bath, and either a dining or lounge area depending on preference. The bedroom is able to accommodate a double bed and the sofa can also turn into a double bed. The bathroom is going to have a shower, a toilet, and a sink. The kitchen is going to feature a two-burner stove, a fridge, cupboards, storage, sink, and room for a smaller oven.

You can also add customization features to this camper such as extra storage and heating units. You can also add solar panels and even an air conditioner if you so choose.  Speaking of air conditioning you may want to check out our article on the teardrop campers with AC here.

As of right now, this company is working on many new and modern designs to ensure that people are getting the most out of their camping experience. Whether it be RV’s, teardrop trailers, or other forms of camping, this company is testing the waters with all their new inventions.

You can read more about it here.

What is a Teardrop Camper with Slide Out?

A teardrop camper is a smaller camper that is easier to haul compared to a normal camper or RV. These campers get their name due to their shape and nothing else. The shape looks like a water drop or a teardrop. Hence the name. One of the ends of the trailer is going to be bulkier, whereas the other end is going to be slimmer.

These campers allow people to live simply in nature. These campers are the most basic types of camping that you can buy besides a tent and sleeping bag. Teardrop campers are going to provide shelter with a roof, a kitchen most times, and a bathroom some of the time.

The earliest models of these campers were made in the 1930s in the United States. However, during this time they were not as popular so they were made when they were ordered. Today, they are more popular and are made constantly to keep up with the demand.

These campers are small but spacious and they are cute.

It is important to keep in mind that all teardrop campers are different. Each one offers different amenities and spaces. There are many sizes and prices depending on your budget. Plus, these campers are often called a compact version of the RV because they are small and still have enough conveniences to make life comfortable.  You can even get Teardrop campers with bathrooms.

Keep in mind that this is not a huge camper and you will not be able to bring your whole house with you even though you may want to. These campers do have storage areas but not a lot. Plus, the more you take, the more you have to worry about and take care of. Sometimes less is more, especially when camping.

With all this being said, teardrop campers are still very comfortable if you know what you are doing and know how to pack. Like stated above, you do not need to bring the kitchen sink with you. These campers are small so that most cars can transport them and so more people can afford them. Plus, in today’s world, the campers have improved and are made to be more accommodating than in previous years.

If you’d like to read more about teardrop campers, we wrote an article about which ones we think are the best, you can check it out here.
