Check out one of these 17 recreational areas for your next off-road excursion.
Boggin on the Plains

Boggin on the Plains is a 160-acre park just north of Tuskegee National Forest. Here, you can take your favorite off-roader and enjoy rock climbs, mud holes and forest trails. Check the park’s website to see what weekends it opens and what special events are happening. Boggin on the Plains features live music from notable artists like Dusty Leigh and Jamie Ray.

Choccolocco Mountain ORV Park

Geneva State Forest

Geneva State Forest is Alabama’s largest forest and only a half-hour from the Florida border. This recreational area boasts over 7,000 acres of Mother Nature to explore, including multiple trails for ATV riding. The trails are open all year except during scheduled deer hunts. During turkey season, the trails open after 1 p.m.
Hawk Pride Mountain Offroad

Hawk Pride Mountain Offroad is a weekend park in northwest Alabama, just south of the Tennessee River. This recreational area offers 1000 acres of off-road fun, with a motocross track, mud pits, 120 rock crawling trails and ATV trails. Hawk Pride Mountain adds new trails annually, adding fun each time you visit.

Hollytree Off Road Park is a short drive from Huntsville, one of the South’s fastest-growing cities. The recreational area has 400 acres of trails for beginners and advanced riders to explore. The mud pits, forests and rocky terrain provide something for everybody. Keep an eye out for the Huntsville Rally races each month.
Indian Mountain ATV Park

A short drive from the Georgia border, Indian Mountain ATV Park is one of East Alabama’s premier recreational areas. This ATV park features an extensive trail network, mud bogs, hills and gorgeous mountain views. Besides riding, you can go fishing and camping, though make sure to follow their detailed instructions regarding campfires. Much of Alabama is within the wildland urban interface, the areas most at risk of wildfires. The Pinhoti National Recreation Trail is an excellent opportunity for hiking.

Inside Talladega National Forest, the Kentuck ORV Area is terrific for riding your ATV, dirtbike or mountain bike. The recreational area has about 23 miles of trails ranging in difficulty, with some paths offering steep hills and challenging rocks to overcome.
Minooka OHV Park

Minooka OHV Park is a small, tranquil recreational area in central Alabama. The park features 13 miles of trails as you absorb the beautiful woods and narrow roads. Besides riding, you can go fishing and camping. The park has blackwater bass, typically growing between 12 and 30 inches, and bluegill.
Morris Mountain ORV Park

Pricing: $20 per OHV, $30 for a weekend pass
Regulations: Permit not required, seatbelts required at all times, spark arrestor recommended, riders and passengers must sign waivers, adults must have a valid driver’s license to operate OHVs, minors under 18 may not operate OHVs in the park, passengers under 18 must have parent/guardian sign a waiver, some camping allowed

Morris Mountain ORV Park is a short drive from Cheaha State Park, the highest point in Alabama. This recreational area allows off-roaders (except ATVs and dirt bikes) on their mud bogs, obstacle courses, rock gardens and trails. The park is only open on the second and fourth weekends each month, so watch for special events throughout the year.
Mount Creek Adventure Park

Mount Creek Adventure Park is an excellent site for family fun. You can explore mud holes, forests and 100 miles of trails here. Mount Creek Adventure Park also has concession stands, swimming and spray stations to wash your big rig. Getting dirty is fun, but you should ensure your vehicle is clean afterward. Dirty tires corrode over time, so use Mount Creek’s cleaning supplies.
Patawomack ATV Adventure Park

Near the Gulf of Mexico, Patawomack ATV Adventure Park has 5 miles of trails available to all of your off-roaders. There are also hill climbing opportunities, a motocross track and mudholes. The park is a superb spot for your weekend getaway. Check out the hiking trails in nearby Gulf State Park, most of which are paved and wheelchair accessible for anyone to enjoy.
Southern Ridge ATV Trails

Southern Ridge ATV Trails is the place to be if you want to be around ATVs exclusively. This site is about a half-hour north of Andalusia and features mud bogs, shallow and deep water crossings and numerous ATV trails. Southern Ridge offers hot showers and RV hookups, but you should call to make a reservation.
Stoney Lonesome OHV Park

Pricing: $15 per day for ages 13 and up, $5 for children 6-12, free for kids 5 and under, $30 per night/$180 weekly/$470 monthly for RV hookups, $45 per night/$250 weekly/$700 monthly for a cabin, $10 per tent per night, $13 per night for dry camping

Southeast of Bankhead National Forest is Stoney Lonesome OHV Park. This northwest Alabama getaway is open to the public all year, featuring ATV trails, rock crawling and dirt bike tracks. This park has a noise limit, so consider using an electric ATV because of its reduced noise and increased efficiency.
People who don’t go off-roading also come here for horseback riding and hiking. Stoney Lonesome is open Friday through Monday, ideal for long weekends and holidays.
Styx River ATV Park

Styx River ATV Park opens at 9 a.m. every day, including holidays. The park features 150 acres of mud pits, a motocross track, an oval track and narrow ATV trails. Styx River is famous for river riding. Still, you should bring a snorkel just in case. Besides off-roading, you can head to the Styx River and rent canoes and tubes for water fun.
The Ridge Outdoor Adventure Park

This area features 35 miles of one-way trails, motocross and supercross tracks and a drag racing strip. Besides off-roading, The Ridge has zipline adventures, airsoft fields, concession stands, disc golf, fishing, hiking and other fun activities.
Top Trails Outdoor Park
