The state of New Mexico has remarkable historical value hidden beneath its scenic desert landscapes. If you are particularly interested in archaeology, New Mexico is a great place to visit.

Where To Rent An RV In New Mexico?

New Mexico certainly isn’t the most convenient state in the US to rent an RV in. This state is huge yet has only a few locations to rent an RV from. Most of the rental locations are situated in Santa Fe, the state’s capital, as well as its largest city Albuquerque.

Nationwide RV rental companies are of no great help either – Cruise America, for example, only has one location in the state, which is in Albuquerque.

Even on peer-to-peer platforms like RVshare or Outdoorsy, there are relatively few RV rental options to choose from. However, in remote areas, platforms like these are more likely to have an RV for rent.

RV Campgrounds & National Parks In New Mexico

Albeit a desert state, New Mexico offers outdoor activities to engage in in every nook and cranny of its vast territory. Among the RV campgrounds and parks you could stay at to enjoy New Mexico’s vibe are:

  • American RV Resort.
  • Santa Fe Skies RV Park.
  • Bonito Hollow RV Park & Campground.
  • Elephant Butte Lake RV Resort.
  • High Desert RV Park.
  • Red Barn RV Park.
  • Silver City RV Park.
  • Boot Hill RV Resort.
  • USA RV Park.
  • Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post.

New Mexico is also home to a few national parks, among them the Pecos National Historical Park. The key attraction of this park is the pueblos, the thousand years old mud dwellings. It also has hiking trails, guided tours, and a visitor’s center with information about the park’s artifacts.

Popular Tourist Attractions In New Mexico

Carlsbad Caverns National Park, another national park in New Mexico, contains the national treasure that is Carlsbad Caverns. With its several rooms and levels to explore, this natural formation attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.

In Albuquerque, you have the Petroglyph National Monument covered with prehistoric pictograms telling about the life of the tribes that have populated these lands thousands of years ago.

Events In New Mexico

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is one of the most popular events in New Mexico. This October festival’s key feature is the 600 balloons launching into the air. You also have car shows, balloon flying competitions, fireworks, a balloon museum, musical performances, and many other things at this event.
