How Tasers Work And Why Should I Buy One?
We live in a more dangerous world than ever, and feeling secure is essential. The defunding of the police movement has also not made it any better.
With crime rising, some Taser manufacturers have noticed a 300% increase in device sales in recent months. It’s primarily women who have recently purchased stun guns and, in some cases, more potent- Tasers.
Key Takeaway
The article argues that Tasers are a non-lethal self-defense option that can be especially useful for women.
Summary

Understanding How Tasers Work:
- Tasers use probes to transmit electrical pulses for control.
- High-voltage wires connect probes to the taser device.
- Electrical pulses disrupt brain-muscle communication, causing incapacitation.
- Immediate neuromuscular control loss aids in self-defense.
- Temporary effect, usually without permanent injury.
Reasons to Buy a Taser:
- Enhances personal safety from a distance.
- Legal and non-lethal in many jurisdictions.
- Simple operation with basic instruction.
- Boosts confidence in movement and self-defense.
- Acts as a deterrent with visible and audible effects.
- TASER Pulse+ integrates with mobile for added security.
Any contact stun gun device conducts an electrical current between two electrodes at the device’s end. The electrodes must contact the suspect to deliver current to a resisting suspect. The electrodes had to be held against the suspect’s abdomen for 3 to 5 seconds to cause incapacitation, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Stun guns can be purchased for around $25 to $55 and are effective only when brought into direct contact with an attacker; however, their loud noise is often enough to deter would-be muggers. That crackling sound is terrifying. I encourage you to visit your local weapons store and have a demo.
In some larger cities like New York, Real Estate staff have armed their supers, managers, and security guards with defensive weapons, some disguised as iPhones, flashlights, and batons. Please don’t leave yourself defenseless. In contrast to popular belief, stun guns are not lethal. They give you a better chance of avoiding an altercation altogether.
Crime has gotten worse even at home, in the rural areas of the United States; in our current state, you must defend yourself with at least an extra punch. These devices can arm you with the courage to protect yourself.
Would you or your dog benefit from regular walks? Yes, I do, and I take my dog for walks around the block at least once (and often twice) daily. If you do, as you are aware, all the neighborhood dogs start barking incessantly because you’re out with your dog.
There have been times when I’ve seen dogs so excited to meet another canine that they escaped their yard or enclosure to get a whiff of it. While most states require owners to have their dogs on a leash to prevent them from approaching strangers, this isn’t always sufficient. The giant dogs, 75 pounds or more, can easily drag a grown man behind them.
Considering that a dog can command a human being when attached to a leash is terrifying.
A stun gun is an excellent self-defense tool in this situation. Superior to pepper spray and similar products. If you are unfamiliar with these devices, it is easy to see one and consider it a toy. After all, it’s powered by batteries.
Check this funny story out, as it shows how powerful a stun gun can be.
Man Does Not Believe A Mini Taser Can Do Much Damage, Learns Truth The Hard Way
I have compiled a list of questions I hope can help you see Tasers for what they are and not walking, talking, killing devices as some have tried to rationalize. If missed, it can be a weapon that could have dire consequences.
Are Tasers an excellent way to protect yourself?
A Taser is a device that shoots two darts into the body. There are three different kinds of taser guns. Law enforcement officers can use them to help control dangerous people.
A taser works by emitting an electrical charge that is delivered by two small darts penetrating a person. There are three different kinds of tasers. These are the X26, X23, and X21. The X26 is a non-lethal weapon.
It emits a weak shock that does not cause permanent damage. The X23 is the Taser that is used by the police. It is considered to be a semi-automatic weapon. It fires two shots. One shot delivers a strong shock, while the second is weaker.
The X21 is the least powerful of the three. It fires one shot, which delivers a medium shock. All three taser guns are designed to stop someone who is threatening others.
In addition to firing projectiles, some Taser models, especially those used by law enforcement, have a “Drive Stun” (the effects of a stun gun) capability that causes pain without incapacitating the target by holding the device against them.
The term “Drive Stun” refers to the practice of employing the Electro Muscular Disruption (EMD) weapon as a method of enforcing pain compliance. The device is activated by pressing it against a person’s body, and the shock is delivered instantly. This may be done before or following the deployment of an air cartridge.
These devices are less expensive to operate as you do not have to replace a cartridge each time your gun has been used. They are also less costly upfront; some come with a flashlight for night walking your dog.
When was the Taser/stun gun first introduced?
In the early to mid-’80s. However, law enforcement did not introduce the first stun gun until 1993. TASER stands for “Thomas A. Swift Electric Rifle”. It was not well received by Law enforcement initially, but over 15,000 law enforcement and military agencies around the world use Tasers in their arsenal today.
Can a Taser kill a person?
Police officers use police Tasers to stop bad guys. The Taser is used as an alternative to deadly force. It is not a weapon intended to injure or kill. It is designed to incapacitate someone.
A Taser uses an electric current to deliver a shock to the victim’s body. Taser works by using a two-pronged electrode attached to a wire. The victim receives an electrical shock when the Taser hits the victim’s body.
There are three different kinds of taser guns. One is the X26, which has a cartridge that holds seven darts. Another one is the X26C, which has a cartridge with 28 darts. The third one is the X50, which contains 50 darts.
How much does a Taser cost?
Prices vary widely, starting around $150.00 up to $1800.00 and even more. But you can buy an excellent self-defense Taser for $400 or so. It’s not cheap, but it will give you excellent protection.
Stun guns are priced from $35.00 to $65.00 on Amazon. When you purchase a taser, you will receive a manual that you must read to protect yourself. You will also need to get training before you can carry a Taser.
Knowing the proper use of a Taser is essential to avoid hurting someone who is not a threat to you or others. Taser guns are potent, so you must be careful when using them. Make sure that you always aim correctly.
Using the Taser guns only when you need them is a good idea. It’s not a toy.
Can a civilian buy a police Taser?
The answer to the question is yes. You can buy a taser gun at most weapon stores. You can also buy a Taser gun online.
You can get your taser gun, but you may not be allowed to shoot it until you have had the proper training. There are some laws about carrying them. For instance, you must be professionally trained to use the weapon.
You may be unable to carry one around without being licensed; laws vary from state to state. Taser devices are legal in all 50 states, but some have limitations when carried in public places. Check with your state before trying to purchase a Taser gun.
You can carry one in some areas if you are a security guard.
How painful is a Taser?
A Taser gun is an electrical device that law enforcement officials use to subdue people. This includes law enforcement officials and private citizens (including security guards) with a carry license. These are considered non-lethal weapons and can cause significant pain when they are fired.
The amount of pain caused depends on the model of the taser gun that you use. A Taser gun can be extremely painful to use on a person. You can use the Taser gun to stun a person and bring them under control. Once the person has been amazed by the weapon, they are not likely to harm themselves or others.
What happens when you Taser a dog?
When you Taser a dog, it will experience an electric shock that will cause muscle contractions and temporary paralysis. The dog may also experience pain and distress.
Can a Taser stop a heart?
A Taser gun is used to stun a person. The electrical shock is strong enough to cause pain but not enough to stop a person’s heart. The weapon can prevent someone from fighting back or hurting themselves.
For example, you can use the taser gun to control an inmate who is being unruly or disobedient.
How far can Tasers shoot?
Maximum at 35 feet. Cartridges are available to non-law enforcement consumers are limited to 15 feet. Practically speaking, police officers must generally be within 15 to 25 feet to use a Taser, though the X26’s probes can travel as far as 35 feet.
How long does a Taser disable a person?
A Taser can immobilize a person for up to 30 seconds. It works by sending high-voltage electrical pulses into the human body. These electrical impulses are powerful enough to paralyze a person temporarily but not so strong that they would cause death.
Is a Taser suitable for home defense?
Tasersnhavecement officers have used Tasers for years to stop a dangerous person. Police officers generally can’t shoot someone until they have given the person a chance to get away first. Most Tasers can stop a person quickly.
They are powerful weapons that are easily carried. You can take it in your pocket or your car. Tasers have made it much easier for police officers to protect themselves.
Can a Taser knock you out?
No, a Taser cannot knock you out. Tasers are designed to temporarily incapacitate a person by delivering an electrical shock, which disrupts muscle function and causes pain. While a Taser can immobilize someone, it does not knock them out.
What hurts more than a gun or a Taser?
This question has no definitive answer as it depends on the individual’s pain tolerance. In general, however, a Taser is considered to be more painful than a stun gun. This is because a Taser sends electrical pulses through the body, while a stun gun only sends electrical current to the muscles.
What happens if you get tased in water?
If you get tased in water, it will significantly increase the risk of death. Tasers deliver an electrical shock that disrupts the body’s nervous system. This can cause muscle spasms and an irregular heartbeat, which can lead to death.
When tasing someone in the water, the electrical current will be conducted more quickly through the water, making the shock more dangerous.
Where can I get training to carry a Taser gun?
If you want to use a Taser, you can find out how to use one at your local police department or online. Find out more about the law in your area and what you must do to carry a Taser legally. If you are concerned about protection, then it might be good for you to get some training in firearms.
You can get information from the NRA (National Rifle Association) website if you are interested in training. Their website provides links to many training courses. Police officers who carry a Taser can get training from an accredited program such as the Taser International Police Officer School or the National Rifle Association’s Law Enforcement Firearms Training Center.
Here are two resources for self-defense training- 1. Axon 2. U.S. Conceal Ed Carry
You can easily find training courses online.
Our use and recommendation
If someone comes at me with a stun gun, I’m not going to let it be used on me without retaliation. Criminals would not either. A stun gun can’t deliver the necessary electricity to incapacitate a suspect without the assistance of additional people. Regarding contact stun gun effectiveness, the required time on target isn’t the only issue.
The distance between the two electrodes is only two or so inches. The electricity travels the most significant distance possible when the switch is turned on. The visible warning arc is 2 inches long or as long as the prong width. At best, the current does not penetrate deeper into the skin than the probes’ 1/8 inch, so muscles are unaffected. As a result, a contact stun gun is only effective until the receiver feels enough pain to comply.
With this in mind, I do not feel this is ample protection for me or my family members when confronted by a perpetrator wanting to cause bodily harm. Tasers are more effective, but you better have good aim and hope the suspect is not wearing too much clothing. EMDs have their place in self-defense, but it doesn’t stop there. I consider these as a deterrent more than protection.
Conclusion
One of the things that makes a Taser or stun gun different than other types of firearms is that it delivers a controlled electrical shock to a person to subdue them. It is not meant to injure but only to hinder. Law Enforcement uses Taser Guns for many reasons, but one of the primary reasons is to subdue someone quickly, safely, and humanely, and that’s not enough protection for my family.
But with that said, each of my family members does have a Stun Gun for protection for walking the dog, shopping with friends, etc. Crazy not to for $25.00 to $60.00 bucks!
You can buy a Taser or stun gun at Walmart, Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shop, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and many other places.
